GIVE THE GIFT OF KNOWLEDGE, June 2023

Our education project helps students who need academic support in many ways. The direct support we provide is our tutoring program for students. In this program, we offer tutoring and provide them with school uniforms, school supplies, and food during tutoring sessions. Available data indicate that primary school students who attend I.C. Hope's tutoring program were more successful than those who did not and performed remarkably well on their exams.

Fifty-nine of our sixty-two primary school students have transitioned to the next grade level. The three who did not pass struggled in Math, English, and ScienceThey will receive additional tutoring in these subjects and retake the exam during summer break.

Nine additional first and second-grade students will continue learning Arabic (reading and writing) during the summer break.

This data may only seem impressive if you know more about our students. Before we opened our tutoring program, all our students struggled in school. Most families couldn't afford school uniforms or school supplies. Most of our children are being raised by widowed mothers or other relatives who stepped in after the parents did as a result of the war in Iraq. None of these adults could help their children academically; they needed to figure out where or how to get help. Thanks to our donors' generosity, we were able to start and continuously expand our tutoring program.

Families are thrilled because their children are going to school, and they are beginning to have hope for a better life in the future.

Story:

Hanan is a mother of 2 boys and one girl. They are all in school, but they didn't do very well last year; ICHOPE found a sponsor to help the family with their needs, and after the family received support from their ICHOPE sponsor, the children joined our ICHOPE tutoring programs. All three children have had success this school year and earned excellent grades. Hanan is pleased watching her children's outstanding performance in school, and she said, "I can't thank our sponsor and ICHOPE enough for helping my family."
