Hello donors!
Rebuild continues in Texas as our teams in Houston and Coastal Bend work to get families back in their homes. To date we have completed nine home rebuilds in Houston and six home rebuilds in our Coastal Bend program. We are now almost 9 months out from when Hurricane Harvey first made landfall and there is still a large amount of work to be completed. With nearly 80 volunteers in the field every day across both bases we are working one day at a time to get families in Texas back in safe, secure homes.
Our work does not stop with homes. Through our close ties with the community in Northeast Houston we became aware of a school that needed assistance. The Rhodes School is a public charter school located in NE Houston serving low-income, at-risk students. Serving 1,100 students from pre-K to 8th grade across all campuses, the school incorporates music and arts into its daily curriculum. The Robert E. Lee campus was devastated by Hurricane Harvey, resulting in damage to all buildings on the campus and the loss of most school, technology and arts equipment. Our teams are hard at work rebuilding classrooms and handicapped ramps, free of charge.
We thank you for your continued support of our work across Texas and hope that you continue to follow us online and our other programs across the world. Since our Recovery phase first started in January, we have had over 2,800 volunteers come through our program to contribute over 12,000 volunteer days assisting over 3,600 individuals. We couldn’t do it without you, thank you!
