Hello donors!
We have officially started the Recovery phase of our Hurricane Harvey Relief program. All Hands and Hearts has been on the ground in Houston and Aransas Pass since Hurricane Harvey first made landfall back at the end of August 2017. We are slowly wrapping up the immediate response phase of work which consists of debris removal, muck and gut and mold remediation. While there will still be teams that complete this work as it comes up we have now turned our focus towards repair and rebuild.
Currently we are working to rebuild six homes in the Houston area and two homes in Aransas Pass. These homes were badly damaged during Hurricane Harvey and some families have been living in gutted homes because they have nowhere else to go. As with our response phase, our team has identified the most vulnerable families that need assistance and started work as quickly as possible. Our teams head out 5 days a week to work on installing new drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinets, doors, windows, etc. to ensure that these families are living in the safe and secure home that they deserve.
The impact we have made in the communities we are working in can be best described by the community members themselves. Jorge, a homeowner in Aransas Pass, had this to say about the team on the ground. "The volunteers are awesome. They are very helpful, they are really committed to their work, they are very serious about their work and they are very humbled by the work that they do. We need some positive things going on right now...and they've been just fantastic."
We thank you for your continued support of our work across Texas, especially as the media spotlight fades. All Hands and Hearts is still committed to two years in Texas with the goal of assisting as many families as possible.
Thank you!
