Your contribution is helping fill a critical gap in the Afghan educational system by teaching young Afghan women how to be teachers. The Ministry of Education requires this coursework and credentialing to teach girls ages 5-22.

Our Teacher Training Center draws upon village trainees in a significant portion of rural B Province. Students begin their coursework with the standard TTC and Ministry approved curriculum in four core areas : Science, Mathematics, English, and Dari Literature. Additionally, we are providing computer training across all departments with 10 laptops and our own curriculum, as well as additional English training.
Thanks to donors, we have been able to add supplemental specialists who travel to the Center to further educate students in English, Computers, Math and Science. A key role for teachers is to help students, as they progress in grades, to prepare for their college entrance exams. Teachers need better education to be able to pass this along to students. The Training Center is helping to tackle this problem.
There are currently more girls enrolled in school than at any time in Afghanistan's history with females accounting for 36% of all students. We want to continue this trend and improve upon it until every girl is enrolled in school. The benefits are tremendous: early marriage is delayed, maternal health improves and the economics of the family likewise improve because girls become employable upon graduation.
