It's always hard to write a report when there has not been a huge amount of support yet, but with the year of Covid we have all had, it is understandable. Times are tough the world across, and that is what makes us even more grateful for your support for our project, so from our hearts, THANK YOU.
More than ever we realise that we are vulnerable to a drop in income, to be able to pay for electricity and pump water, and with South Africa's electricity so volatile, and recently big storms knocking out our power for days on end we realise just how important sustainability is... To be able to provide a place for the children with power, and water, clean energy, and to lead the way by becoming off grid, and utilizing the earth in a more respectful and light way.
Our first step, to take advantage of the upcoming rains, was to install rainwater harvesting gutters along two of the roof in the Nourish eco village center, our backpacker lounge and one of the office buildings. We hope to harvest lots of water off these roofs and use this greywater for watering plants, planting trees, etc.
More than ever, the world needs us to learn to live differently, thank you for helping us along this gentle journey.
