Project Overview

The “Free Transportation for 48 Children and young people with Cancer” project ensures that children from remote and underserved communities are able to attend their medical appointments and treatments at the hospital without the barrier of transportation. Thanks to the continued support of our donors, we have been able to guarantee safe, timely, and compassionate transport for both the children and their caregivers throughout this period.

Transportation Process

Our process begins early in the morning when our dedicated driver departs from the city to reach the homes of the children in distant rural communities. Each journey is carefully coordinated to pick up multiple children and their accompanying parent or guardian.

Upon arrival in the city, the children and young people are taken directly to the hospital where they check in for their scheduled medical appointments. Some are immediately sent to the laboratory for preliminary tests, while others remain in the waiting area for their consultation or treatment time.

To reduce the emotional and physical toll of waiting in a hospital environment, we then transfer the children and their families to the facilities of our association. Here, they are welcomed into a warm, child-friendly space where they can relax, play, and enjoy various recreational and educational activities. These include interactive games, reading areas, and computer-based entertainment designed to provide moments of joy and normalcy.

When it's time for their medical consultations or treatments (including chemotherapy), the driver returns them to the hospital. For those receiving outpatient chemotherapy, transportation is arranged back to their homes after treatment concludes.

Patients who require inpatient hospitalization stay at the hospital for several days. Once their treatment is complete and they are discharged, our driver coordinates with the medical staff and the families to safely return them home.

Impact Summary (Jan-Apr)

  • 33 patients (children and young people) and their caregivers served

  • Over 430 transport trips completed

  • Zero missed appointments due to lack of transportation

  • Recreational hours provided at our center: Approx. 200+ hours of play, learning, and connection

  • Average travel distance (round-trip): 50–360 km per family

Conclusion

Thanks to this program, children and young people with cancer are not only accessing the life-saving care they need, but also doing so with dignity, comfort, and the emotional support that every child deserves. Our transportation service is more than a logistical effort—it is a lifeline for families who face daily challenges in their journey toward healing.

We are deeply grateful to every donor and partner who makes this possible. Together, we are not only moving children to treatment—but moving them closer to hope.
