introduction:

Women and girls in Yemen are among the most affected groups by the ongoing conflic, as they are exposed to gender-based violence, displacement, and deprivation of basic services. This project aims to provide protection and empowerment support to women and girls affected by the war in Yemen, through a set of activities and programs that aim to enhance their resilience and participation in the reconstruction process .
Objectives :

Contributing to creating a sustainable and resilient environment for women and girls in Yemen. By providing them with the tools and resources to become self-reliant, the project aims to empower them to take control of their lives and become agents of change in their communities. This will not only help them overcome the challenges they face on a daily basis, but will also enable them to contribute to the development of their country. The project also aims to raise awareness on the importance of protecting women and girls from all forms of violence, including sexual exploitation and abuse, and to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Yemen.
Reducing all forms of violence against women and girls, especially the most vulnerable and conflict-affected, with a focus on promoting self-reliance, protecting women and girls from violence, and empowering them to be agents of change, to make a significant difference in their lives. By providing them with livelihood opportunities and protection interventions, the project not only addresses their immediate needs, but also enables them to contribute to their communities and the larger society . In the regions (Sana'a - Ibb - Aden - Taiz - Shabwah - Marib..)
The project “Empowering and Protecting War-Affected Women and Girls in Yemen from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse” aims to enhance the self-reliance of displaced and vulnerable women in conflict-affected areas through livelihood and protection interventions. The project supports women’s access to livelihoods and protection from all forms of violence, including
Sexual exploitation and abuse, empowering them to be agents of change and decision-makers in the context of the current crisis. The project will contain the following component
Services directly related to protection (legal advice, protection monitoring activities and capacity building including key education on comfort, mine risk education and referral as well as case management system for gender-based violence)
Empowering women as agents of change Equipping women with the knowledge, skills and confidence to participate in decision-making processes at all levels, including in the context of humanitarian response and peacebuilding efforts .

Women and girls affected by the war in Yemen, with a special focus on displaced poor families .
Achievements for the period from 10/2/2024 AD to 12/30/2024

1- Saturday 10/2/2024 AD is the start date of the training course for the project to protect women and girls from violence during wars and conflicts, which began in the field of sewing training for 60 women and girls, as well as awareness and psychological support sessions for the same number at the association’s headquarters.
2- The course began with a welcoming speech by the association’s director, Ms. Abeer, in which she explained the importance of the course, its program and duration. Then the participants got to know each other and got to know each other.
3- The trainer began by explaining and clarifying the sewing requirements, the tools that sewing requires, and the tools that the machine requires. Then we explained to her about the machine, its maintenance, thread and needle installation, and the types and sizes of fabrics in terms of width, length, etc., as basics for sewing.
4- An awareness session was held on the types of violence, treatment of violence, its problems and causes.
5- Distributing sewing training supplies, notebooks and pens , and then the trainer began explaining Lessons Training in sewing in detailing different types of women's clothing in different sizes.
6- Practical application of sewing, receiving and answering trainees’ questions and inquiries about detailing and sewing .
7- Conducting awareness sessions for a group of women and girls about the dangers of violence and defining women's rights in society, citing official local and international laws and treaties. During the session, an appeal was made to the Sand Organization, donors and supporters to provide support for this project and the importance of supporting women's protection and advocacy in various fields and issues. The participants in the sessions and the trainees also stressed the importance of supporting and empowering women economically, which begins with training them in professions, jobs and skills to enable them to improve their standard of living and improve the income of the family they support. Supporting this important project that results in raising the standard of living for trainees affected by wars and others.
8- ontinuing the training lessons, in which there was a feeling and observations of the improvement in the level of the trainees, as the trainees presented their work that they had done in the practical application of the training, including tailoring and sewing. After that, the trainer began explaining and training on how to tailor the broken robe and its measurements in terms of length, width, sleeve length, and small and large robe sizes. After that, the trainer and the trainees carried out the sewing.
An awareness session was held on gender-based violence, listening to the problems and circumstances of the participants in the session, and identifying the causes of those problems and the tragic circumstances that some participants are experiencing by telling the story of their problems, clarifying and inquiring, and how to find possible solutions to what they mentioned in the session.
And in 11- Reviewing the previous lessons that were covered during the response to the trainees’ questions and repeating some lessons that had some questions about them. The trainees presented the work they had done by dividing them into groups and each group showed what creativity they had, even though some of them were sewing with a needle and thread. This was an achievement from them. Thus, this day and week ended with creativity and distinction. This indicates the initiative and insistence of the trainees on working. Finally, we thank everyone who contributed to this achievement and we thank the Sand Organization for its efforts and continuous support for this project.
12 - Holding an awareness session about the importance of the course and the affected women, and stories about some of the trainees and what they are suffering. Each of the trainees appealed to the Sand organizations to extend a helping hand to them.
13- On the last day of training 12/30/2024, each group read the achievement report from the beginning of the training to its end and presented what was sewn by the trainees. The trainer thanked the trainees because they did a wonderful job and accomplishment , which proves that they loved the work. After that, the trainer divided the groups and distributed the fabrics that Ms. Abeer had purchased from the Sand Organization. Each group chose some details for some robes. The work was collective and in cooperation with each other. Each group completed what was asked of them to detail. The trainer followed up on each group and supervised the groups with the help of the trainer Sally, who was reviewing the trainees. Praise be to God, more than one robe was tailored and will be displayed after sewing on Saturday, God willing. Many thanks and appreciation to you for the encouragement of such women. Thank you.
Activity Report Summary
9- Legal advice, financial assistance and referrals to service providers were provided to 21 GBV cases. The organization keeps their documents confidentially, as they tell a number of violations they were subjected to and the violence they suffered during the past period.

The difficult circumstances experienced by the trainees and participants in the protection sessions, and the difficulty of helping them financially or at least with food baskets .
