An overview of the tragic situation in Yemen

Children in Yemen suffer from difficult conditions and harsh conditions as a result of the ongoing conflict that the country has witnessed since 2015.
According to reports from international and humanitarian organizations, children in Yemen face many challenges and urgent needs that...It was completed on them, and included the following:

  • Protection:
    Where Children in Yemen are exposed to violence, exploitation, targeting of child soldiers, and forced recruitment.
  • Health care:
    Disease outbreaks and malnutrition it has a significant effect on children's health in Yemen.
  • education:
    Yemen's education system has been severely damaged by the conflict, affecting children's right to education.
  • nutrition:
     Many children in Yemen suffer from acute and chronic malnutrition
  • Psychological and social needs:
    Children in Yemen suffer from psychological trauma as a result of the ongoing conflict and violence
  • Women's rights:
     Women in Yemen suffer from discrimination and sexual, physical, and economic violence.
  • Displacement:
    Many children and women in Yemen face forced displacementContinuousThey live in camps and in unsuitable hosting conditions They also suffer from deprivation, in housing, health care, and educationThey are exposed to various forms of violence.
     As Children and women in Yemen are exposed to the risks of forced migration and human trafficking.

Activities that were implemented:

Recently, in the year 2023, the Sanid Organization worked to focus on aspects of protection, awareness, and providing psychological support to children and women in Yemen, with few measures in providing humanitarian aid due to the weak capabilities and weak donations and funds that these two groups of society need.

Due to the lack of financial resources and donations, Sanid prepared with an alternative plan to confront the emergency and the lack of support, which is to communicate, communicate and coordinate with the competent authorities inside Yemen to conclude agreements and facilities for a number of targeted children and women to accept them into schools and exempt them from tuition fees while providing some services to them. As well as on the health side, through health centers, hospitals and malnutrition programs, in order to receive a number of beneficiaries, children and women, which were as follows:

  • Implementing community awareness sessions to Strengthen efforts to eliminate the phenomenon of forced recruitment of children and working to rehabilitate child soldiers.
  • To provide Basic health care for children and women, and facilitate access to health services and vaccines.
    For 258 children and 382 women, they received ambulatory and secondary health services.
  • Providing healthy and nutritious food for children and women and promoting nutritional programs directed to them Through a program to treat malnutrition for children, pregnant and lactating women, 153 children and 204 lactating and pregnant women.
  • Conducting talks with school administrations and education departments to facilitate the admission of children who are at risk of dropping out of schools and who are exposed to violations and violence as a result of their inability to continue education due to the living situation.
    A number of 146 students were enrolled in schools after they were exempted from tuition fees and the school bag and its supplies were provided to them.
  • 233 children and 82 women who had been exposed to some types of violence were enrolled in the sessionsPsychosocial support: Through psychologists and social specialists. And Providing counseling and psychological support to help children and women deal with the effects of conflict and violence.
  • Implementing 8 group awareness sessions and 22 individual awareness sessions about...Promoting women's rights to achieve gender equality and women's rights in Yemen And Encouraging women's participation in political and economic work and promoting maternity rights and women's health care.
  • Providing humanitarian and development aid: has been submitted humanitarian and development aid to support children and women, including providing WaterClean and food aid. For 66 families of children and women targeted by the program.
