Empower Tanzanian Girls Through Education

On behalf of The Sunflower Foundation (Australia), I extend our most sincere thanks to you for your generous donations to our cause this past year.. We have had a fantastic year in terms of financial outcomes, as well as community and business support. Our income has increased by 160% this year, whilst our expenses have only increased by 20%. Without you, this would not have been possible.

Every donation made to our foundation helps to ensure that we continue to empower girls in developing countries through education, seeding hope and opportunity where there was none. Your donations this year have aided us in our mission to create a future where gender equality, justice and hope can flourish.

The generosity of our donors this year was essential to our successes. For example, our Future Girl Cocktail Party raised a net profit of over $14,000. Similarly, we won the accelerator challenge on GlobalGiving.org, which has allowed us to fund two further projects and has given us a permanent position on their well-respected website. Our donors and supporters have made this possible. In terms of fundraising, our donors made up the largest portion (40%) of our income this year, followed by income generated specific events over the year.

We were able to award three major grants for the 2017-2018 periods. Firstly The Miracle Organziation towards Health Education Remedial Society (MOTHER) in Andhra Pradhesh, India looks to provide safe water to the girls’ school and to carry out repairs to ensure the girls safety. Secondly El Shaddai Ministries Trust in Tamil Nadu, India is supporting families so they can send their daughters to school. Thirdly, Teamwork Africa aims to keep girls in school, by reducing the dropout rate from 61% to 30%, and supporting girls and young women through community awareness programs.

Thanks to you, [insert first name], we have been able to award over $150,000 worth of grant funding in the last 9 years. 26 separate girls education projects have run in Australia, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Uganda. In our first year in 2008 we aimed to raise just $6000 each year in order to allow one girl to attend school. I think it is fair to say exceeded expectations!

We really do appreciate all of your generous support for Foundation and are thrilled with what it has allowed us to accomplish this year. We have high hopes for similar success next year as we continue to grow and expand. We hope you have found your relationship with us rewarding this year.
