Thangamari is a 12th grade student at
Isha Vidhya Tuticorin school. Thangamari
is from a poor background. Her father works
as a labourer in a bore well lorry, but on
account of a fracture at the age of 16, he
cannot do very hard work. Her mother struggles
to make the ends meet for the family, going
house to house on her tricycle collecting garbage
in the village. She does so smilingly though, for it
is through her earning, no matter how meagre it
may be, she can provide for her family. Needless
to say, there is never a surplus for indulgences.
She is satisfied in the knowledge that Isha Vidhya
is the custodian for her child’s education, and
grateful that it is only through the sponsorship that
this has been made possible. Although Thangamari
is disturbed by the present reality of her family, she
is committed to help her parents after completing
studies, and improve her family’s standard of living.
We thank you for your support in educating the rural
girl children. If you have not done already, we would
encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation
for a small amount, which will go a long way in educating
more and more rural girl children like Thangamari.
