Hands-on trades training has commenced at Casa Hogar de Cabo San Lucas with Saturday afternoon sessions! The first 12-week module has concluded. Our teens learned to use soldering irons and basic concepts of electrical circuits. The second module was plumbing 101 and it concluded with the installation of an irrigation system for a portion of our new garden!
In October the teens will be learning videography. This is the beginning of our goal to teach trades and valuable life skills to the teens at Casa Hogar de Cabo San Lucas A.C.
Also, our new part time social worker has started on her new role this past summer! She has been busy setting up all we need in order to start receiving new children in the new building through an “institutional support” program which will mean that parents can reach out to Casa Hogar directly in the event that they are in special need of caregiving. As opposed to having to go through DIF (mexican social services) and report a children right’s violation.
We are far from our goal to fully fund the project but are hopeful that we will be able to reach it before year end.
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
The Casa Hogar Team
