Save Yemeni Children from death or Permanent Disab

By Sanid Program | Project Leader

Yemen is living in tragic conditions, in light of the suffering of the Yemeni people economically and healthily. Therefore, the food crisis worsened among the Yemeni family, especially the poor, which led to an increase in the number of children infected with infectious diseases and epidemics that led to death, as well as malnutrition, which heralded a humanitarian catastrophe. It is the first in the world, as there is a severe weakness in the health field, which stands helpless in the face of this increase in deadly diseases. In addition to febrile diseases that damage the spinal cord and make the child suffer from permanent disability, which is paralysis resulting from brain atrophy due to high temperature, which requires first aid for the child at the beginning of the feeling of fever. Due to the lack of health services in the targeted areas, Sanid Organization for Relief and Development (SORD) followed the referral system to central hospitals that are tens and hundreds of kilometers away from the targeted area. This means that the organization is making attempts to save many children from death or permanent disability.

Infectious and seasonal diseases make Yemeni children vulnerable to death in light of the silence of the competent authorities and relevant organizations, which made us in SORD redouble our efforts to alleviate this suffering and save dozens of children during this period of the second quarter of the year 2023 AD (April-May-June). Through continuous work in receiving and referring sick cases and children at risk of death and permanent disability, in particular, by providing all possible means of transportation and transferring children from poor and displaced families to more service centers and hospitals to get out with the least human losses as a result of diseases and nutritional deficiencies.

In turn, SORD raised its project entitled "Saving the lives of (1250) children from death and permanent disability and applying the referral program." The proposed project aims to contribute to reducing deaths and diseases related to child mortality in targeted areas with high mortality rates and polio during the first quarter of the year 2023. Children at risk were referred, and how to use the available resources to overcome them or reduce these epidemics.
