The Sindh Disability Conference 2025, organized by NDF Pakistan with collaboration of CIP Pakistan, TDEA & GlobalGiving, was a historic event that brought together persons with disabilities (PWDs), government representatives, NGOs, rehabilitation experts, and media professionals to highlight disability rights, inclusive development, and the need for full implementation of disability laws in Sindh.
This conference was made possible through generous support via the GlobalGiving crowdfunding platform, with an aim to strengthen the disability rights movement in Sindh and shape future advocacy and policy action.
Key Achievements
1. Conference Held Successfully
Date: January 09, 2025
Venue: Htel Mehran, Karachi
Participants: 312 individuals, including:
160 persons with disabilities (physical, intellectual, sensory)
Government officials (Social Welfare Dept., Disability Rights Commission)
Civil society leaders and DPOs from across Sindh
Media and academic institutions
2. Voices from the Ground
12 self-advocates with disabilities shared their life journeys and barriers they face
Special youth panel on “Inclusion in Education & Employment” received wide applause
Parents of children with disabilities highlighted the need for early intervention and inclusive schools
3. Policy Dialogue & Commitments
Social Welfare Department committed to:
Allocate budget for District Disability Facilitation Centers
Strengthen implementation of Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018
Include disability-inclusive development in the 2025–2030 provincial plan
4. Media Coverage & Awareness
4 mainstream news channels covered the event live
Over 20 social media posts reached 45,000+ people online
