Meseret Humanitarian Organization (MHO) is an award winner and vibrant women headed a non-governmental, organization established in 2011 with of the aim empowering and changing the personal-social, and economic status of women and children of Ethiopia who lives under abject poverty by giving them opportunities and supports which leads to development. MHO was founded by a role model woman, who had long been served in the Ethiopia Red Cross and experienced first-hand how lack of access to, use of, and control over a wide range of resources can lead to limited options for women and children. MHO’s focal areas of intervention are Women Empowerment, Child and girl education, Food security, capacity building,  sustainable development Environmental protection WAHS, sexual and reproductive health, social accountability, community economic empowerment through self-help groups, improvement of primary school, Prevention of Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking Rehabilitation, re-unification and re-integration. In this connection, one of its development interventions in the area of Child education support through its   “one pack for one child” project benefited thousands of children of poor families who often missed out on school due to economic problems, conflict or natural disasters. This project enables many  needy children to properly attend their education as equal as their peers as well as achieve better academic results This project has received the  national CSO best-practice award presided by the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE)

Currently, as the world witnessed Ethiopia is currently from hope to conflict.. The hope of the people was overshadowed by war, Ethnic conflict, socio-political instability& land dispute.

AS front runner in Peacebuilding in Ethiopia MHO as an organization and as the Executive Director of MHO a peace ambassador of Ethiopian. Considering reputation  MHO has developed the proposal “Cultivate Plants- Cultivate Peace in Ethiopia” with project #53118 to mobilize resources and solicited funds through the GlobalGiving platform. Although effort has been made by MHO, however, not much money has been raised given the current dire Peace situation in Ethiopia.  Until now under the mentioned project, only 100 US dollars have been raised.   The donated 100 have been utilized for two important activities

  1.  Awareness-raising  on  conflict prevention and responses, with a holistic perspective that includes reconciliation, mediation, negotiation, and peacebuilding,  provided for 15 women
  2. Money Contribution National campaign and movement   GBV and  peace and organized by prominent women lead organization including MHO

Challenges in Reporting Period

  • Despite peace and conflict a series of issues in Ethiopia No corporate and grant donation for this project

Solution

  1. MHO has planned to tap the potential of different GlobalGiving campaigns like e the potential of   the little by the little campaign platform for fundraising
  2. MHO seek further support from GlobalGiving  to raise money for MHO,as Ethiopian expectation MHO  is high
  3. MHO planned to promote  the project  more  using different platforms to engage and build potential donors  more
