Report: COVID-19: help women victims of violence
By Petra Sinovcic | Project Coordinator
Thanks to donations collected we were able to continue with supporting needs of women victims of domestic violence!
Your donations made possible for us to urgently respond to increased needs of women. Above all, that refers to increased need for urgent accommodation and urgent support in the moment. We use the money collected through this project to cover the basic necessities of life for the beneficiaries who come in need of crisis accommodation or are long-term victims of violence who are beneficiaries of the Counseling Center. Considering that these needs are not covered through the projects through which our organization is financed, this way of collecting funds is one of the main ways in which we enable the financing and sustainability of crisis accommodation and our counseling center.
In the next period, we plan to equip and adapt the space and further expand the team that works with women who come out of violent relationships. We hope that in this way we will further expand services for women who survive violence and strengthen the support system, which we consider extremely important in order for women to decide to leave violent relationships.

Report - COVID-19: help women victims of violence
By Petra Sinovcic | Project Coordinator
continue to provide various forms of help and support to women who are in emergency situations. Donations allow us to respond adequately and in real time to the still increasing needs of women as a result of the epidemic of violence that got worse since the COVID outbreak.
The crisis has highlighted a number of systemic shortcomings. DOMINE provides counseling services, but over the last couple of years (2020) Counseling has started to act like a crisis center and this continues to this day. This is also the reason why we launched the initiative to open the first Crisis Center in Split (and in Croatia). In addition, we have expanded the forms of support we offer - financial and material support, 24-hour telephone availability and field visits (mainly to rural areas, areas with bad transport connections, low-income users or users with health conditions).
The money raised through the platform from the beginning of April of 2021 until today has been used to cover services provided to women who contacted Counseling center, for which the organization did not have the funds. The costs of one part of psychological, psychosocial and legal counseling were covered, beneficiary emergency crisis accommodation and direct financial assistance to cover basic living needs. In the last period the most funds were used for psychological support and crisis accommodation.
Covid isn't in a full swing anymore but the crisis has not decreased. Up to this moment our Counseling center had more than 150 new beneficiaries this year and that shows that the need for financial and material assistance remains high, and the funds allocated to civil society organizations for direct work with beneficiaries are insufficient. Nevertheless, we are making every effort to secure funding and continue to help women in need.
We hope that you can spread the word about the efforts we are making in trying to create better and more accessible services for women who are suffering violence!
Thank you from Domine team!
