If you are reading this, you are lucky enough to have a device and to be able to connect with and learn about the world through the internet. Your job probably requires using a computer and maybe you had a compiter to study with. Knowing how to use them is a vital part of life. It's hard to imagine that this is not the case for many communities in the world.
Access to computers is rare for girls in the remote High Atlas. They do not have them at home, nor do they have internet access. Even having a device is unlikely due to poverty. Maybe there is one phone shared between a family of 10 people.
We believe that educating girls is essential and that every girls has the right to reach her potential in life. Computers cannot be separated out from a edcuation which is why the EFA boarding houses each have a computer rooms. There are no computers in their schools, however living at the boarding houses means the girls can use them for their homework, research and grow in confidence and IT litteracy. These skills can take them all the way to University and skilled jobs!
Since covid, the need for computers at the houses has grown. Our volunteer programme had to go online and so did many of the school lessons. We set up this project to help expand our capacity and get more computers (and replace our very old and broken ones).
If you have donated to this project, a big thank you! We have reached 5% of our target so far, which is almost enough to buy a new computer. We can't wait to update you soon with our progress. Please share the project link in the meantime so we can grow support for this project together.
