Dear Donors
The program preaches the gospel of inclusivity. This came at a time when many LGBTQ identifying Ugandans had abandoned their different faith doctrines due to the judgment and segregation they were facing based on their sexual orientation or/and gender identity. The main objective is to create a safe space where gender and sexual minorities can advocate and worship freely without fear of prejudice or segregation, in turn restoring their faith and rekindling their relationship with God.
One of our members was quoted sharing below during worshiping
“imagine being an LGBTIQ+ person going to a church when you don’t know their stance on sexual orientation or gender identity. I have been to churches that are non-affirming churches, the experience through is terrifying, whenever I would go in the church, I would feel guilty, I would feel that everybody knows I’m Gay, and to make matters wise, its when the priest , or church member would make homophobic speeches towards the LGBTIQ+ community, it would feel like they are directed to me and the pain that follows then is not bearable at all, I almost turned into being a humanist not until MRF introduced interfaith dialogues that brings me near God with peers, I now don’t need to feel ashamed of who I am. I wish the interfaith program is a daily activity full of worshiping. - Anthony
