From all of us here at CWEFT and the Concordia Day Care & Community Center (CDCC)- Happy New Year! I pray that the Christmas and New Year holiday was a blessed and relaxing time for all of you.
Christmas always comes a bit early for the children and families at the CDCC, as we usually hold our annual Christmas celebration and outreach service in mid-December. And this year was no exception. On Saturday, December 15, 2018, children and family members who have participated in CDCC programming for the past year gathered together for this annual event.
It was a wonderful time of fellowship and outreach and entertainment. A team from the a local church led most of the festivities with singing and dancing and even some magic. A local pastor shared a special Christmas message for everyone. And the children of the CDCC had worked very hard and prepared some songs and dances of their own. This year, the older children gave a special dance performance, after spending many hours practicing with a high school student from a nearby international school. And children of all ages performed a special production of the Christmas story. Each of the children from preschool up to elementary (and beyond) received a special Christmas gift, and the event wrapped up with a time of food and fellowship.
For most of these children, the gifts they receive at this event are the only gifts they receive all year, as they all live in the impoverished slum community next to the CDCC. This Christmas celebration is something that the children and families look forward. And we thank each of you for your continued support- without which these types of events, and all of our other regular programming at the CDCC, simply would not be possible.
In total, there were 155 children and family members who attended. Amen! Those who were unable to attend did receive their gifts a bit later, and we always follow up with families.
A BIG thank you to each of you for your generosity this past year. None of this would have been possible without you. And we appreciate each and every one of you. We look forward to continued partnership and support in 2019.
Please pray for each of the smiling faces below (and in our full group shot above)- they are why we do what we do.
