Dear Partner,

Re: Report on project CAPACITY BUILDING FOR 140 BLIND PERSONS - Phase 2

Greetings from JOC FOUNDATION.

We are delighted in your continual support of our vision which is to be a veritable instrument and agent in the reduction of all forms of disabilities in the society and to create an enabling environment for both the physically challenged and the less privileged.

Here is a brief on the activities and progress of the foundation for the project CAPACITY BUILDING FOR 140 BLIND PERSONS at the School For The Blind Afara Ukwu Umuahia, Abia State, South East Of Nigeria as at this August 2021.

We are grateful for all the supports we've received towards actualising this CAPACITY BUILDING FOR 140 BLIND PERSONS in AfaraUkwu in Abia state, Nigeria.

We have successfully concluded the first phase of the project which includes

  • Purchase of 2 laptops for the school
  • Training for the Production of Hand Sanitizer
  • Training for the Production of Liquid soap
  • Training for the Production of Disinfectant

On 18th of August 2021, we visited the school (School For The Blind Afara Ukwu Umuahia, Abia State, South East Of Nigeria) for follow up on the last training and the outcome was very encouraging as many of the trained students are already practicing the skills. We couldn’t train all the students because of insufficient funds and materials. This visit also showed that the Pupils, Student and Some Staff were greatly impacted in the last training and are eagerly waiting for the commencement of the second phase of the project which is CRAFT AND BEAD MAKING.

The next stage which is largely dependent on the availability of funds will include:

  1. Craft and bead making training for the blind

Consultation and arrangements of trainers have be concluded.

Students are to be trained on production of accessories, decoration foot wears, crown, bracelet, flower verses, fabric decorations etc.

  1. Purchases of computer softwares/accessories
  2. Purchase of white cane (walking aid)

All these would have started except for the lack of fund to execute them. We are hopeful that we funds will be made available soon.

We are grateful for you supports and will be happy to receive more knowing that more blind students will be empowered to cater for themselves better.

Thank you for your continuous kind support to JOC FOUNDATION.
