The ceasefire offers a fragile glimmer of hope, but Gaza's situation remains critical. With 92% of homes destroyed or damaged, over 1.8 million people are left in desperate need of emergency shelter and basic essentials for survival. Families are struggling to rebuild their lives amidst the rubble, while access to healthcare, food, clean water, and education is nearly nonexistent. Alkhidmat has been on the ground since day one, providing life-saving aid and support.
Up to 1.7 million people are displaced in Gaza. That's over 80% of the population with no choice but to shelter in community buildings like schools, makeshift shelters, or out in the open. There is severe overcrowding and disease is spreading. Many of the people who had fled their homes had travelled to other locations deemed safe. But these locations have then been hit with strikes. No where in Gaza is safe. We are providing emergency items like tarpaulins and shelter tents.
This project will provide emergency shelter to displaced families in Gaza by distributing tarpaulins and shelter tents. With overcrowding in schools and makeshift shelters, these items will offer safer, more dignified living conditions, protecting families from harsh weather and disease. By ensuring access to temporary shelter, we help reduce suffering, prevent illness, and provide a measure of stability in a crisis where no place is truly safe. Your support can bring immediate relief.
This project will provide immediate relief while also laying the foundation for long-term recovery in Gaza. By addressing urgent shelter needs, we help prevent the spread of disease, reduce suffering, and protect vulnerable families. Over time, safe temporary housing allows communities to regain stability, supporting efforts for rebuilding and rehabilitation. Additionally, sustained aid efforts can contribute to long-term resilience, ensuring displaced families have the resources to recover.
