Aghosh is an orphanage program run by the Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, dedicated to providing care, education, and support to orphaned children across the country. Currently, there are 22 Aghosh homes operating nationwide, each committed to the holistic development of its residents. Aghosh Attock is one such home, and we are pleased to announce a significant upgrade: the installation of a new computer lab, funded through generous donations on GlobalGiving.

Project Objectives

The primary objective of this project is to enhance the educational resources available to the children at Aghosh Attock by providing them with access to modern computer technology. The computer lab aims to:

• Facilitate computer literacy and digital skills development.
• Support the academic curriculum with technology-based learning tools.
• Provide access to online educational resources and e-learning platforms.
• Enhance the overall learning experience and future employability of the children.

Implementation

The project involved the following steps:

1. Assessment and Planning: Conducted a needs assessment to determine the requirements for the computer lab, including the number of computers, software, and necessary infrastructure.

2. Procurement of Equipment: Purchased computers, accessories, and furniture for the lab. This included desktops, chairs, desks, and necessary networking equipment.

3. Installation and Setup: Set up the computers and installed essential software. Network infrastructure was also established to ensure internet connectivity.

4. Training and Orientation: Provided training for staff and students on the use of the new equipment and software. This included basic computer skills and internet safety.

Impact

The installation of the new computer lab at Aghosh Attock has had a profound impact on the children and staff:

• Enhanced Learning: Students now have access to a wealth of online educational resources, interactive learning tools, and software that supports their academic subjects.
