Our Vidigal Capoeira project currently serves two kindergarten institutions in the Favela do Vidigal community, impacting, on average, 100 children among the two institutions.
Throughout the past months, the work that we have done has gone beyond teaching Capoeira to young kids in the community. We have taught children the history behind Capoeira, the relevance in using culture as a symbol of resistance, and the importance of expressing the values in Capoeira on a daily basis even outside practice.
The children we serve are progressively becoming more interested in the culture and the improvement of their physical abilities. They express interest in learning more complex moves and are dedicated during class. Our class is a safe space where they don’t have to deal with the societal issues that affects their daily lives. Given our success so far, we want to continue to expand and serve even more children once we obtain the necessary funds to build our facility, We truly, genuinely appreciate our donors as they will allow us to reach new heights and serve more and more kids.
Thank you!
