There are many boys and male youth who also miss out on schooling for various reasons: some have to earn money by selling water or other items on the street to support their families, others are orphaned or have only one parent who lacks money for schooling.
AIL runs a Street Children Center which provides education classes and medical care. Health care is provided to between 29 and 65 boys each month, and health education is given to approximately 20 boys each month.
At a boys’ orphanage, AIL provides education classes to 97 boys in subjects such as Arabic, math, English and computing. These classes supplement the regular schooling they have. AIL also provides clothing to the boys. AIL provides medical care and so far this year has provided between 62 and 118 treatments each month. The boys’ nutrition is regularly assessed and they also receive health education sessions which are attended by between 40 and 60 boys each month.
Boys also attend classes at AIL Learning Centers and Dr. Yacoobi High Schools have male pupils, some of whom are from poor families and receive scholarships so they can attend.
