So far this year, 27,293 people have attended classes at AIL Learning Centers (LCs) of these 8,772 are male, that is 33%. Literacy is often the first class many students want to attend. Herat LCs have had 2,189 males attend literacy class so far this year. At Kabul area LCs they have had 748 people enrolled in literacy classes so far this year as well as 782 enrolled in Arabic class.
“I am very glad that I can now read and write and I am interested to learn more. I would like to join the computer class and maybe get a job in computing. Literacy was the first step for me to a new life.”
